This guide provides general recommendations for cleaning, maintaining, installing, and caring for your Aruvaart products.

1. Understanding Handmade Craftsmanship

Many of our products are handcrafted using traditional Moroccan techniques.

Because each piece is handmade, slight variations may occur in:

Metal textures and surface details.
Finish colors and tones.
Decorative patterns and perforations.
Minor measurements and proportions.
Natural patina and handcrafted marks.

These subtle differences are part of the character of artisan-made products.

However, if you believe your item has a manufacturing defect or differs materially from its description, please contact our customer support team.

2. General Lighting Care

We recommend gentle, regular cleaning to help maintain the appearance of your handmade lighting.

Turn off the light and disconnect electrical power before cleaning.
Allow bulbs and metal surfaces to cool completely.
Use a clean, soft, dry microfiber cloth to remove dust.
Avoid abrasive pads, stiff brushes, and harsh cleaning chemicals.
Do not spray liquids directly onto the fixture.
Keep water away from sockets, wiring, and electrical connections.
Do not dismantle electrical components for routine cleaning.

3. Gold and Natural Brass Finish

Gold-toned and natural brass finishes bring warmth and elegance to Moroccan lighting designs.

Over time, some untreated brass surfaces may develop a natural patina. The appearance of this change depends on the finish and surrounding environment.

Recommended care:

Gently dust with a dry microfiber cloth.
Avoid unnecessary handling, especially with wet hands.
Keep the surface away from excessive moisture.
Avoid metal polish unless Aruvaart has confirmed that the particular finish is suitable.

Brass polish can alter patinated, coated, or lacquered finishes. Do not attempt to remove a patina without confirming the surface treatment.

4. Bronze and Patinated Finishes

Bronze-colored finishes may feature a darker, aged appearance designed to emphasize depth and texture.

Some of these effects are intentionally created during the finishing process.

Recommended care:

Use a soft, dry cloth for dusting.
Avoid brass and metal polishing compounds.
Do not use abrasive cleaning products.
Avoid vigorous rubbing that may affect decorative patina.
Keep the fixture dry and free from unnecessary moisture.

Attempting to polish a bronze-colored patina may permanently change its original appearance.

5. Black Finishes

Do not use silver polish unless the product's finish has been confirmed suitable.

Some silver-colored finishes are plated or coated and should not be treated like solid silver.

7. Copper Finishes

Copper finishes are appreciated for their warm, rich appearance and natural character.

Untreated copper may gradually change color through oxidation. Some Aruvaart products may also feature intentionally oxidized or decorative copper finishes.

Recommended care:

Dust regularly using a soft, dry cloth.
Avoid abrasive cleaning tools.
Do not use acidic cleaners, vinegar, lemon, or metal polish without confirming finish compatibility.
Avoid prolonged exposure to excessive humidity.

Polishing an intentionally oxidized copper finish may remove or damage the decorative surface treatment.

8. Protecting Decorative Patterns

Some of our Moroccan lighting fixtures feature detailed perforations, cutouts, and ornamental patterns.

These design elements should be handled with care.

Use a soft brush only if appropriate for the finish.
Avoid bending or applying pressure to decorative details.
Do not insert sharp tools into small perforations.
Avoid dismantling decorative components unnecessarily.

9. Electrical Installation and Safety

Customer safety is important to Aruvaart.

Electrical specifications and installation requirements vary between lighting products.

Before installation:

Review the product's electrical specifications and instructions.
Confirm compatibility with your local electrical supply.
Check the required bulb socket and maximum permitted wattage.
Inspect the fixture for visible shipping damage.
Ensure the mounting location can safely support the fixture.

Hardwired lighting should be installed by a qualified electrician in accordance with applicable electrical codes.

Do not attempt electrical modifications, repairs, or rewiring unless you are appropriately qualified.

If a fixture has damaged wiring, an unusual smell, overheating, or other signs of an electrical problem, disconnect power and stop using it.

10. Bulb Selection and Compatibility

The correct bulb depends on the specific lighting fixture.

Before purchasing or installing a bulb, check the following:

Required bulb base or socket type.
Maximum permitted bulb wattage.
Voltage compatibility.
Bulb dimensions and available space.
Whether the fixture and bulb support dimming, if required.

LED bulbs may be suitable for compatible fixtures when they meet the product's electrical, physical, and thermal requirements.

Never exceed the maximum wattage specified for a fixture.

A dimmable bulb does not necessarily mean a fixture is compatible with every dimmer.
